I am attempting to add several locations on my disk to my "Favorites" in Windows Explorer. I have used this feature in the 64bit version of Windows 7 without a problem, but it does not seem to work in this install. Here is my methodology so far.

Apparently to "favorites".
One workaround is to use the "libraries" as a replacement of favorites.
It isn't a true answer to this question so if anyone still knows why favorites isn't working, please chime in...

Vista introduced the favorites in the navigation pane of Windows Explorer. In Windows 7 I immediately noticed that the favorites don't have a separate pane at the top anymore. See this image for a comparison.

A possible fix, if you don't require the entire expanded folders when you are in a directory, you can turn off " Expand to Current Folder " .
I think Microsoft has still not provided a tweak for this, as people are still ranting about it .

Occasionally when I click a link in my Favorites Bar IE8 will open a file download prompt for the shortcut itself (.url file).
Very annoying.
Has anyone else experienced this? I swear I encounter this at least once a day.

Seems kinda stupid to click "New Tab" first only to click a favorites bar link.
A "solution" to this is to just Ctrl+click the favorites bar links to open them in a new tab.

Is there a way to remove the "Favorites" item at the top of the navigation pane in Explorer in Windows 7? It really bugs me that it wastes so much space, and I can't find a way to remove it.

Edit - As John T said, there is no way of Favorites.
Or delete items from favorites to make that section smaller.

I don't expect my Favorites to show up instantly so I may not look.

What I'd like most of all is an option to emphasize a few of the seed artists above the others, and have special favorites among the favorite list that get played more than the regular favorites.
