I can't find information about starting and using Apache Felix from code.
I want do things which I am able (or unable ;) ) to do with Apache Felix's Shell.
For example, how do I start a module?

Which packages of Felix do I need to get started? There are a zillion of them on the downloads page .
(p.s. is the name a reference to the Odd Couple + in contrast to OSGI's "Oscar" reference framework? this occurred to me after reading one of the tutorial...

Contrary, you can download and run Felix (or other OSGi implementations to start Felix with ServiceMix....
You can start with main Felix distribution and start other Felix bundles.
Actually this depends on what you are going to achieve .

Jetty and the webapp alone are not enough, there has to be some glue that actually registers the webapp at the web server under a specific context .

In the most basic form, services are registered in Java code.
This make using Felix much easier.
I suggest you look at the iPOJO project.
