Thanks, I had a hunch it had to do with that (the shop manual shows a bad picture/diagram of that pivot area) .
IDK if its the same but the clutch in my S10 did this and it was just the bushings on the fulcrum point of the pedal up in the dash .

Mine does exactly the same but within a couple....
This is a well known problem and nothing to worry about as long as you take the car of long life servicing .
Have a search through the forum, I've read about this before, I think it's a common feature/problem .
