How do you strategise a fighting tactic, or battle plan? How would it have been done in the medieval ages?

I personally have never played the original Rome but I have bought every TW game since Medieval2 and would love for a reboot of rome similar to Shogun2 or perhaps even going back to the Medieval times with updated gameplay similar to Shogun2.

There simply is no cause for the clickies to fight for currently in the medieval theme, at least no good really great ideas! I think I would even get into the medieval theme if we had all those great civilian medieveal sets....
