We have all those types of film and i would say costume drama is a tiny, good films can flop without any clear reason, and methinks the UK film industry would be better on this.

The film was almost entirely Michael Hutchence vehicle, and David Arquette's only decent film Dream with the Fishes.
Definitely not a well known one like trainspotting.
I'm unsure.
