I've seen a lot of job advertisements (contracts) quoting extremely high daily rates. I don't think I will ever earn anything even close to it without some experience in banking. Besides, banking looks like a good challenge with high-availability systems...

There are more markets out there than to know much about....
Market connectivity is a big one.
Now this gets the most/pricing systems and so forth.
Financial markets includes but is not limited to: Equities: ie the stock market.
