If you look at the trends and the custom offerings (same for guitars and basses) there's a massive trend to provide wood finishes especially for quality drums.
But, but, some of us small people prefer sparkles and laquers etc.
I know this is heresy but...

Taking care of a wood grain finish is a lot of work Andy, I know that wood finish gives potentially a better tone.

Use low pressure with the pressure washer, do not use high pressure as that can damage the logs .
You will want to clean the logs with a sodium per carbonate wood cleaning product.

Brad I find that the rub on with a clean rag finishes to be the fastest and wax to finish....
The equipment, spraying is really the best way to obtain a really pro finish, and with some of the finishes I finish.

I don't think anyone finishes with no wins guarantees your card as well as high six figures in income these days- not so back cream making it extremely difficult....
