I recieved a couple of Fireworks PNG files. Fireworks has a special format for saving several source images in layers in the png file.
How can I read these without having Fireworks installed?
(im working on a mac but with vmware so any suggestions whatever...

If that's not an option, my only advice is to download a trial version of Adobe Fireworks (registration required) to convert ....

PNG files do not have layers, so Fireworks layers.
It's after all what all the above applications use.

It draws sketches like drawn from hand and does not push the user into thiking that the program is finished... .
It is available for Mac, PC, soon for Web and some integrated versions for Jira, FogBugz and such .
If you want to draw a mockup, try Balsamiq Mockup .

The basics are covered here:
http://www.gimp.org plugins to really get the best performance out of the tools for doing web development .
