Fishing

There are plenty of companies which make saltwater lures. However, their markets are small -- lures which work in southern California often won't work off Florida, and vice versa, so you don't hear much about them. On the other hand, freshwater bass fishing is a nationwide interest, so companies which make lures for bass tend to have lots of publicity, so even those of us who don't fish for bass hear about all the bass lures. Next time you go saltwater fishing, stop in a local saltwater tackle shop, and you'll probably see lots of artificials for sale. You see most people fishing with bait simply because it's an easier way to catch fish, but there are plenty of people who catch lots of fish on artificials. source

I was by the river once where people were fishing, and saw one guy catch a huge fish. They do practice catch-and-release, not least of all because the fish are all probably toxic or something. If you want to go on a daytrip, I've heard good things about fishing at Singal Lake near Suwon. source

After having a couple of strong fronts come through this week, there may not be enough water in the bays to do much good. I'd be sure and check conditions before driving down. source

I haven't been since the last day of ice fishing. I think I'm going to go Brook Trout fishing this weakend. source

The couple of times I fished without a license I could not relax always looking over my shoulder for a game warden. I also know where my fee goes to helping the resource so I am happy to pay. I agree that the people who only go fishing twice a year are the litter bugs and license dodgers who should not be allowed to even look at a lake. At my favorite ponds back in NC it was patrolled heavily by county sheriffs who would check for fishing licenses and after checking mine once he would not ask again just ask how they were biting and go to the next guy. I saw that cop write many tickets at that park and I smiled as those jokers were asked to leave with a citation in their hand. source
