Hello all. What's the best method to accurately cut or shave 7/16" diameter flats into 5/8" brass balls? Need smooth finishes.
I may get a decent milling machine for other operations, but I'm wondering if there's a more suitable method than a milling ...

I would cut a flat bottom hole 0.350" minimum depth, in the vise jaws, spaced with a 0.0625" minimum gap, off center....

What does the e flat key do on flute? I'm just learning, and when I looked up the fingering for e f g a b and high c, it says to use the e flat pinky key. But when I lift my finger off this key, the pitch dosnt change. Is that key really necissary for...

I'm writing a few pieces for 3x clarinets in Bb, 1x flute, 1x alto saxophone in Eb and a piano. Basically it's for a primary school.
If the clarinets are playing in C major and the piano is playing in Bb major, the saxophone is playing in G major, right...

Eb instruments deduct 3 flats
F instruments (horns) deduct 1 flat
So if C signature is Ab, (4 flats)
Clarinets are in Bb (2 flats)

You can combine these too and literally create hundreds of scales .
Coming from a first flute and piccolo in high school in the top band -
Practice makes permanent: chromatic, flats, sharps, disonant, etc.
