I completed paperwork for a short sale and listed my home, I applied for a loan modification (didn't qualify because of lack of income) and applied for a deed in lieu of foreclosure .

I expect what you're trying for is to get your economic hardship forbearance extended .
A forbearance does not.
Generally with federal loans, an in-school deferment gets a grace period .
You should be asking that question directly to your lender .

Not all of my loans qualify for the special direct either .
I am curious to hear what others think about the special direct consolidation as well...not sure if its really worth it or if I should just go through the traditional consolidation .

If you have your checking or savings with Chase I would suggest you move it, they wouldn't be able to take your tax refund to pay the taxes .
