That no longer pays the loan back is definitely increasing the national debt as the government has getting rid of loan debt, I think addressing issues with payments from medicare would be far more.

I have only looked a bit into it, and from my understanding while it doesn't eliminate the debt, it can potentially lower our interest rates on our student loans.
