Ok now I know this is not the 1st thread with squat vs leg press in the title but I thought id give you all my view on this.
Last few weeks my knees and hips have been giving me pain so have swapped to leg press for a bit and this is what I have found...

Squats and deads for strength, leg press for quad size I like supersetting light squat with heavy....
My current leg routines is squats 8 sets, deadlifts 6 sets and leg press 6 sets, that's it.
I completely agree on everything you said.

I was aproximately 30lbs overweight the pain and muscle failing in my knee... .
Just throwing that thought out there.
When I eat, it slows down and when I put my weight on my left leg, it hurts until I found this forum.
By tomorrow it's gone.

In other words how do I get rid of my chicken legs. I've been working out for 5 months and my squat 1 rep max is 260(I always do low reps except warmup), which is not strong but I feel that my legs should've gotten bigger like my upperbody did. I eat ...

6-8 rep leg press, 3 sets, the last set or two being to failure with a spotter
medium rep leg extension and hamstring curl, 10-12 reps with whatever else you're doing, or....
Low rep squats, 2-4 reps, 5-7 sets.
My legs got huge quick.

I have several bulging discs and DDD, mine has been going on for about 3 yrs. It may get better. I had one pain in my leg it went away after 6mos. I sleep with 2 pillows between my legs at nite on my left...
