I am 61 and was diagnosed with Osteoperosis in my right hip, osteopena in my left hip. My T-Scans were 2.7 (right) and 2.1 (left).
My doctor is recommending Fosamax, however after reading about the possible side effects, I am hesitant to start a two-year...

Fosamax plus D is MUCH more expensive than the generic formulation without
D. I take the generic version plus one Posture-D supplement twice a day
approx. 12 hours apart. It has 125 IU of D, 600 mg of ca. 280 mg of
Phosphorus, and 50 mg of Magnesium...

One of my neighbors told me today that her doctor has her using a daily nasal spray that has calcium in it. She has osteopenia and was on Fosamax for several years but is now on a Fosamax vacation.
Anyone ever heard of this?

No, never heard of it, not even from the fancy bone endocrinologist or his brochure of osteoporosis options .

The jaw suffers as do the stomach and esophagus.
These drugs! We firmly believe that my mom's esophageal cancer may have been because she took Fosamax.
