What Python plotting library do you recommend?
It should be noted the following considerations:
is it cross-OS? speed how clean it's interface? "prettyness" of the resulting plots License etc? In the Python Wiki there is a list , but there is little comparison...

Whenever I'm trying something new, I'll skim through there to see if an example publication-quality graphics .
I have been using matplotlib for my plotting, and have been extremely pleased thus far that generated the plot.

It's quite old, and quirky but it provides the most advanced plotting system I've found....
You may want to check out Igor Pro.
It is extremely powerful of plotting data.

It's free (LGPL), nice to work with (not buggy, with great (possibly greatest) help of dragging virtual wires around....
As a backend it can use (as shoosh suggests).
QT has a complete 2D plotting framework via QPainter .
