I was visiting a friend's boat today. He removed all of the water from the bilge and it was back in a few days. His water tank also seemed to be low. Is there any test to see if the bilge water is salt water or fresh water? (Really not interested in tasting...

I'm in water treatment the " powers of observation" test "given" to medical....
Me-I'd dip my finger and taste it.
Float it in a tall glass of bildge water and youve got your answer be salt.
Pick up a cheap hydrometer.
