Let's face it, what politician is going to eliminate their own jobs as well as that of their friends? Should the public at large simply accept the fact that it is futile to expect the government of any country to get smaller and cut costs significantly...

My (very old, very basic) mobile phone is on its last legs. I (now) can afford to replace it with something much fancier - but have so far avoided this level of portable technology (a work netbook is as portable as my IT gets).
