This "bad gas" seems to be an East Coast thing as I have never had problems with letting bikes sit like you have described .
Has worked well for me and lots of others.
Try adding Seafoam to the tank if you haven't yet .

Title says it all,,, anyone who has run EK and RK chains, I would appreciate your feedback. In the past I have run EK or stock replacements. I have been impressed with the quality and life of EK chains, but all I seem to see these days is RK chains everywhere...

The RK was done at only 20,000 miles, and that's with very good kerosene cleaning and lubing every 325 to 350 miles .
I agree I've used one RK 530 SO chain to replace the original on a 36,000 mile CB1000 .

Check your chain slack with your weight on the bike .
Anyway its needed info to make suggestion.
Some tires are noisier then others.
