A friend's taken the keyboard off his 17" Mac G4 Powerbook, screwed it back on and now nothing happens when presses the power button. I don't have 'eyes-on' but he says he didn't do anything else apart from unscrew it, look around then screw it back on...

This PowerBook has been driving me crazy this past week or two. It seems it's in need of a lot of TLC & maintenance.

One way (again, not sure if you can do this with the G4) would be to monitor your temps in a program on the CPU and see if the fans speed up even when it's not saturated for long.

The G4 PowerBook uses DDR SD-RAM with 200 pins, if your Toshiba uses the exact same RAM, then yes, as the PowerBook G4 has a P-ATA HDD (as mentioned before).
