What technology / software / framework could be the best match to build an online gambling / poker system (website, standalone applications) ? Would you recommend Java/J2EE, .Net / Erlang ? Thank you.

The probably all get the thing done, and Java developers will say Java, and .NET developers will say .NET .
Any selection for a framework/language should be based on money and/or your own experience .
Simple as that.
Use the language you know best.

Do they never learn about prohibition that it is "constitutional" to ban online gaming is a man who is actually in a position to do just claims to think that it is "constitutional....
Way to go, it only allows for un-regulated gambling online.

The reality is that online gaming is alive and well, as long as you choose a reputable site.
They don't *want* Americans to bet online, because they assume that they are smarter than them.
Is there such a thing as open source gambling software? Would making the source code transparent help increase security over the long haul?

Online gambling is all about $$$$, so I don't thinkI think the issue would....
A lot be helping a competitor get set up and take your $$$ .
As for the kind of software that runs gambling sites online - I kind of doubt it.

Most online gambling is illegal in the US, and since a payment processor has to be reputable, it's not likely you'll find any that operate in the US and also allow gambling accounts in which customers ....
For that kind of websites.
