What technology / software / framework could be the best match to build an online gambling / poker system (website, standalone applications) ? Would you recommend Java/J2EE, .Net / Erlang ? Thank you.

The probably all get the thing done, and Java developers will say Java, and .NET developers will say .NET .
Any selection for a framework/language should be based on money and/or your own experience .
Simple as that.
Use the language you know best.

Thanks to @Pokerscar for finding this. Surprising news considering Hawaii has no forms of commercial or lottery gaming in it's state.

A lot be helping a competitor get set up and take your $$$ .
As for the kind of software that runs gambling sites online - I kind of doubt it.
