If I understood correctly, I thought we had been told to not use "gamut warning" in various releases of PS? Now in LR4 it seems to be a prominent and desirable thing to do.. If so, what has fundamentally changed to make this so?

(Yes you can sort move the saturation slider of a corresponding color in the HSL panel you can watch the out of gamut saturation or hue to manipulate out-of-....
Reason is you can actively modify your file to pull things back into gamut.

I have a Dell U2711 wide-gamut monitor that can run with an AdobeRGB profile, as well as sRGB. Using my Spyder 3, I have calibrated the monitor in both sRGB and AdobeRGB modes.
I have always soft-proofed in Photoshop in sRGB because I didn't own this ...

The R2880 printer uses the same vivid K3 ink set and gives the same IQ as the R3880 so the gamut the gamut much.

As noted in another post, my Dell Studio XPS 1645 has a full-RGB screen. This in itself is fine.

Even cheapest IPS or PVA panel with "worse" gamut will look the panel technology is TN, no other marketing....
It is just stupid marketing fluff.
All these gamut numbers does not make any sense if the TN panel technology is used.
