Favorite Gardening Magazines?
I vote for Organic Gardening, too, even if you aren't organic. I haven't found anything to beat the basic, in-depth information and resources given there. There used to be a website from Organic Gardening, too, with forum format, but I can't find it anymore. After a few years' subscription, and they're terribly expensive for this cheapskate, I have a comprehensive gardening encyclopedia. There are very few fru-fru articles and a minimum of advertising. My advice would be to visit the local library and try out everything available. They will have copies of the most popular publications. An issue or two will tell you which is best for you, and you've saved a good deal in subscription costs.

Anyone else been gardening 1st Jan?
Not so much gardening but we did take a load of compost and cardboard down to the allotment earlier. The garden at home looks tidier now and at least the mini compost bin at home is empty again!

If not gardening, what about cooking then?
I don't like to cook, but have to, because I try to give the kids as much domestic cooking as possible, they eat out all the junk food anyway. I' m just bored of always cooking the same stuff, so Tam it wouldn't be such a bad idea if we start swaping recepies here. I mostly cook pasta, with minced meat, cheese, or tuna, and fry chicken, fish ocasionally. I love vegetables and the kids don't so it's always a war, I'd love to hear some new recepies with vegies.

MPs made to pay back for cleaning and gardening claims?
One politician on the radio was trying to justify billing the taxpayer for a new electric razor. It's crazy, when was the last time a politician with a beard was incompetent and dishonourable?

Home Improvement magazines?
Architectural Digest and Southern Living were in my house as I grew up. But I would lean toward how-to books if you want hard facts, magazines if you want something fresh each month to tickle the imagination.
