Abro este hilo con la intención de saber que tal se aprovecha el multihilo/multinúcleo en las distribuciones basadas en GNU/Linux y por supuesto saber que tipo de procesadores pueden ser más adecuados a la hora usar este "S.O"

En linux se aprovechan muy usar ambas GPUs (proyecto bumblebee, pero sobre todo el vga_switcheroo, y más con la próxima llegada si.En 720p ya le cuesta.
Yo eligiria el de 4 nucleos.

I have a Custom built system with amd64 x2 1gig ram, I messed up, by mistake and got a integrated motherboard with ati radeon x1250. however i intend to remedy this by buying a new video card.

ATI, Nvidia or other? ATI doesnt really exist anymore, its now all AMD GPUs/APUs.

Und BOINC hast du direkt von boinc.berkeley.edu und nicht als Package via Repo, richtig? nun ja ... .
Debian? Ubuntu? Versuch mal libcurl aus einem anderen Repo zu installieren .
Der Fehler kommt mir irgendwie bekannt vor.

Try and make it a dual screen card. The latest offical linux doc(xorg)
doesn't support diff cards anymore.
Best nvidia requires a special kernel. either you need to be competent...
