It seems that conventional wisdom suggests that good programmers are also good at math. Or that the two are somehow intrinsically linked. Many programming books I have read provide many examples that are solutions to math problems, or are somehow related...

Me, I'm great to say that it didn't at least give me a good foundation and better understanding of what I do, having a good understanding of maths concepts....
You do need to be good at logic though, which isn't exactly the same thing.

But one isn't typically regexing through huge amounts of data in JavaScript .
They're too hard for him?
Or: lookaheads and lookbehinds (the latter are not supported in JavaScript) increase regex times considerably .

I've noticed (is it just me?), that the really, really good programmers seem to be good at writing. Like their code flows, so does their written language.
To me, I suppose that makes sense: programming is writing programming languages . One writes code...
