Hi There,
Can Any one suggest me that how to block the utorrent on my Lan (windows XP and Vista clients) by using Squid proxy (Fedora 10 or RHEL5). I am really got confused while trying to google for this.

While using SQUID acls will be substantially more limited in scope and be easily circumvented, you could use something like:

I'm trying to force one PC to use a remote transparent squid proxy by re-routing all outgoing packets headed for port 80 to the squid proxy, although I'm having some difficulty with the exact iptables command line.

I believe attempting to use a DNAT target to forward the to the remote squid box would remove some of the information the remote squid box needs to properly handle the request
If you allow me to guess a bit port 80 traffic across the vpn....

# pw useradd -g proxy -s /sbin/nologin -d /var/squid -n squid
# chown -R squid /var/squid Running the squid-reverse....
Try pw useradd squid on console.

We have an AD and wants to use squid server for caching and NTLM authentication.
We have 40mb internet too , we are going to share it.

Squid supports NTLM authentication....
If you've got an existing network (and you're not using enterasys switches) you ways.
If you've got a totally blank slate, you then go network, etc.
The easy answer is to use something like 802.1x.

I'm contemplating setting up a squid (or possibly varnish) cache on a system with SSD drives.
The obvious benefit is that these systems have great READ speeds and I expect my hit ratios to be fairly high.
Let's assume I can put 7 SSDs in to a RAID configuration...

Simply giving squid cache you'll probably want lots of disk space, and the high-performing SSDs still only come previously used a squid memory....
Will stay in memory cache - either in squid's internal cache, or in your OS's fs cache.

I'm building a small proxy server with my 8 ip's that I have but, if I give 1 user access to more ips, no matter which one he uses as a proxy, the squid server will use the first one matching the rule.

Like I said in the title, I applied for Squid Angel about a week ago and I still haven't had any reply. In the form, they said that it would take a few days to reply, but this has been more than a few days. Did they lose my application? Should I re-apply...
