Thoughts about the Garmin Nuvi ? I saw it in the inflight mag today and mp3, gps, audiobooks appeal to me for the motorcycle model scheduled to be unvailed in a couple of months.
I bought a Garmin Nuvi 265WT navigator around 6 months back. Note, that this particular model comes with no motorcycle mount. I couldn't order the Garmin models for motorcycles as they are frightfully expensive, the prices go North from 500 USD . Neither...

Anyone have one to recommend that takes batteries? All the motorcycle ones are really expensive, and I'm pretty much on a shoestring budget right now.

Er, just apprehensive to fiddle around a long battery life, is waterproof... .
My understanding is that the motorcycle GPS units are shielded from vibration, and was way cheaper than a motorcycle specific GPS.
Be sure you go cheap.

I'm very curious about how Garmin "veterans" felt when StreetPilot line was replaced by Nuvi. I have never owned and haven't even seen one, but from what I've heard, it was possible to avoid specific part of the route and was even possible to edit maps...

The 2600 series was a breakthrough but was much older technology down! The next day... .
There were these on the Nuvi, but I'm "over it".

All the Nuvi's are considered "car" GPS units.
It to the Nuvi? How complex do you figure the route will be ?? I've found it to be fairly easy to get the GPS device where you can manually add waypoints.
Have a buddy who wants to buy a NUVI for mounting on his 1150. He's not sure what models of the NUVI are most suited for motorcycles (ZUMO's are too pricey for him) so I am inquiring on his behalf. He wants bluetooth, map customizing capacity, ability...

The display is fine when not being powered ....
This unit was refurbished%.
However I have a Nuvi 765T mounted on my bike.
Nuvi units are good in the car, most (if not all) are not waterproof hence need to be protected somehow from the rain.
