Any kind of wall is fine, as long as it has studs in it. You don't hang the mount directly from the sheetrock - you anchor it in the wooden studs that form the structure of the wall. Invest in a stud finder and read the directions on your wall mount thoroughly - you'll be fine. source

In walls must have a backbox in order to successfully compete with other styles of speakers. With a backbox to contain the sound, they become infinite baffle speakers. As such, there will always be some leakage of sound through the drywall. source
