At what point do people typically stop "hogging out" the mirror with the larger grit and move on to finer? I'm using 80 grit on my 6" mirror and am at approx fl = 41in(f6.8), and I'm aiming for fl = 36in(f6).

Good luck, there are many correct ways to grind....
Its easy to overshoot it later, then you'll be way past your target heavy for the figuring stages, but the mirror grinding and polishing chapters are great.

As per title guys, where can i purchase some good quality valve grinding and valve seat grinding wheels? 99% of google search leads to US webpages. I would prefer something like black and decker but i'm considering everything.

My usb portable hard drive fell off the table, landed on the floor and started to make a horrible grinding noise. I assume the platters fell off the spindle? (I think i'm making these terms up)

Your best bet is to backup your data as quickly as possible .

If you open a hdd you'll lose all data unless you send it to some fancy data recovery lab and that costs oodles of money .

So i tried waxing my curb for grinding, and i just cant grind on the curb. I bought some almost wax and whenever i try grinding, my trucks dont go along. Any reason? Thanks. Any help is appreciated

You don't need wax to grind....
No offence guys, but wax is for pussies, we didn't use it back in the day still we could grind things.
Bare curbs are usually too rough to grind on even with wax, Try to find a painted one and wax it up.

Yes; you can use a 1/8" dia wheel to grind a 3/8" (.375") chain.

My windows (XP) hard drive grinds a lot and it negatively affects the performance of other applications.
I have plenty of RAM and have already verified that this hard drive activity is not page file swap activity. I have also already looked in task manager...

I use Process Explorer often.
Generally, all the tools from Sysinternals are great.
It shows you both which programs are to blame and which files are involved .
Try DiskMon to see what drive activity is going on .

I did the ring....
No injuries but it scared and damaged then it will not ring .
I didn't lock the chain down real well in the rail clamp before I started grinding the other side.
A cheap grinding wheel, I figured out that it was my own fault.

In the 3rd<->4th<->5th gear changes, it is not smooth, and there is a grinding mainshaft bearing which is a pita....
Did you ever find a remedy increased.
There is a short grinding sound as i let the clutch out just for a second.
