Since new, the grip safety has always rattled. Actually, you can dry fire the gun by giving the gun a quick jerk downward without having your hand on the safety. If your just holding it in any position, it will not fire, but I do not know if this is a...

I just bought a NOS 70s Commander grip safety (very short tang) for my Series 80 Commander (beavertail style only skinny and tasteful). Can I expect it to be a more-or-less drop in replacement part? These aren't fitted like thumb safeties, right...?

Due to an old shooting hand injury, I do not completely depress the grip safety when I try a high thumb hold. I am fine if I use a low grip (shooting thumb below safety). I know the high thumb is faster and supposedly reduces recoil, although 230 gr hardball...

Fairly new to 1911. A while back I got a new S&W SW1911TA which I really like. Fit and finish seem about as perfect as possible. But have a question about the grip. I noticed that the grip safety releases with just the slightest amount of pressure. Although...

I asked this in the Colt forum and the answer, which was depressing, sent me here. Is there any reason a Colt factory grip safety made in the 1980s, with a short tang, shouldn't drop into a current production Series 80 that has the skinny modified beavertail...
