Overseas booking through US agents. Have just booked through US travel company and have noticed on their website that they are unable to book for non American residents. Has anyone been refused boarding because of this policy?

On international travel like China, the international roaming charge is very expensive. With iPhone 4S from sprint, can I insert a China local GSM sim card in my iPhone 4S and use it without problem? Do I need to unlock my iPhone 4S for doing that way...

This is exactly right.
Most likely the GSM slot will be locked as the previous GSM ATT iPhones have been sim locked to ATT Phones to use SIM cards overseas.

This is more significant, that's a significant limitation....
For Verizon and Sprint customers, as it will allow them to use the iPhone even if they travel overseas 4S is a dual-band world phone, meaning it supports both GSM and CDMA.

Just read on TechCrunch that the Sprint Iphone 4s sim card is going to come unlocked when phone is purchased. Meaning no long wait times on hold or arguing with CSR to unlock the sim. Everyone will be able to use the GSM capabilities overseas immediately...
