Which Lonely Planet guide is best to buy for Australia ? I'll be backpacking around mostly the East Coast but with no set plans I might venture elsewhere. Is the general " Australia Country Guide " the best to buy?

Another travel app for iOS that just dropped the price to Free -- from $9.99 -- the Italy Travel Guide from Lonely Planet.
Just announced on May 2 -- no indication how long the free status will last.

Certainly you will find the guide 'dated' (like any guide book)...it is already 2 years old information when it is published!
It is a guide...not the Bible.Useful for background info. and (sometimes) maps.Everything else is best done online or by talking...

Even if it was published in 2011...the info.was probably collected in 2009 .
The pictures are nice though.
And uses inspiring descriptions such as 'rather unexciting' and other gems .
True, except my book was published July 2011, less than a year ago .
