Can't believe, the player counts away every thing is great .
That newer versions of Linux are ok ( I am using Red Hat 9 so I guess it's my own fault .
We have a JavaScript construct that will play .wav files within Firefox on Windows and MacOSX, but it does not work for Red Hat Linux. What extension do I need?

Unfortunately, that will only work with the latest.
If you use that, you'll need no extensions.

Download and create a linux bootable CD eg: http://www.toms.net/rb/ Boot using this... .
Reboot server with no root password.
Boot with some live Linux CD, mount your partition with /etc directory, edit /etc/passwd by removing password field on root account .

Does Red Hat offer binaries for i686s or just i386s? I have the i386 ISOs and I installed them. The OS seems to run fine except it takes forever to load programs. Often it takes more than fifteen seconds to load any given program and I'm talking about...

Not sure about getting around it with a normal startup, but could you either use rescue mode or a liveCD to make modifications to the system? It sounds like an entry has been added to the /etc/fstab file for this device.

This works because audio.
Sound is, as you already know, supported through RDP though.
According to VMWare.
This works in Red Hat's RHEV, not in ESX though.
