You don't necessarily have to do anything to the markup of your navigation to give the current one a different style - there are declarative ways to do that using CSS.

Because your soles aren't flat, you'd have less control on the pedals, so you should always have flats in your car or on you, so you can change back into your heels later on.
You should never drive in heels.
