Meadow hay is fine, it will probably be cheaper & easier for you to get hold of & the most important thing....
My pigs hardly ever get timothy hay, they get meadow 24/7 and then the get oat/what/barley/orchard of, the cost to you etc really.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here.

I've been giving them alfalfa hay, but should I throw in Timothy hay with that too? like half and half?

Thanks You do NOT need....
I'm going that then.
You can either do timothy pellets and alfalfa hay or vice versa.
And yes, it should be a supplement to the timothy hay.
Alfalfa hay is great for new piggy mama's and babies (up to 6 mths).

You just have to keep as parasites, I don't know what the difference... .
In a garage would be fine or a shed.
I store mine in my basement.
I hope thats not true because I buy hay by the bale because it cost me $4/bale and last about 2 with bale hay.

I just stuff it into a deep square plastic container .
For a kitchen with their pellet bowl, the veggie bowl, and a metal loaf pan for the hay!
I suppose I'm lazy about hay.

I've always used a bowl for Whistles' hay because otherwise he'll sit ontop of it all, pee in it, then not eat what he pees on.
I don't want him wasting too much hay. Now I've seen several users whom have a whole "bucket" full of hay of which the guinea...

Urine is actually "clean", and is free from bacteria unless there is a UTI... .
I do that with my hay but my guinea pigs just love playing in the hay and I hate to take that away I don't think it hurts them but they do waste ALOT of hay.

HI!
I have adopted 2 little girls yesterday (May 2) - they are so sweet and are still very shy. I don't think their previous "person" had a hay rack and I haven't seen them pulling hay out of it yet - they have been eating the hay out of their litter ...

No worries! That's what I did, I gave them clumps of hay to hide in and eat at....
Tried putting tufts of hay near their hiding spots?
After a few days I'm positive they'll come out and try everything else out, including the hay rack.
