And the one I have has great ventilation....
I can not speak to the durability of them just yet but from what I can tell they are very well made and in my opinion could very well be one of the more comfortable hats I have worn .

Most ferengi wear a headwear, like a skirt around the back of the head. Other notable exceptions, like Quark and Zek, don't.

Not even Zek wore one on a regular....
Those pieces didn't start disappearing until DS9...this is also when we started seeing the first civilian Ferengi .
We saw plenty of the wraps throughout the Ferengi's appearances in TNG .
Here's something to think about.
