I believe you're going a little off to another direction with your answer. Of course I want to pay for other people's office visits. If I don't, the theory is that they will get more sick. Then they can go back to normal health, but at a high cost of all the equipment, tests, etc. Health care should come first before automobiles, homes, clothes, and so on. So Kate, I think you won't mind paying for other people's healthcare if they don't happen to get assistant for other materials that are less important. I'm sure you also won't mind if people trust the government will do a good job once they have the funds. source

Many Americans can't, or can barely, afford private healthcare. In other words - America already can't afford healthcare. Anyway, the entire health care bill still costs less than the Iraq war. source

We need to spend more on education because institutionalized racism has created inner city schools that are underfunded and inadequate to service their constituency. We need UHC because our current system only works for the wealthy and bankrupting people for medical bills indicates that the system isn't working. source

I saw these guys on a segment of Real Time with Bill Maher recently. What really irks me about this is that our poor health care system is now causing resources to be taken away from truly impoverished nations. I would hope this would be enough to make most opponents to public health care reconsider their stance, but if they aren't concerned about suffering in their own neighborhood, they obviously couldn't care less about suffering in the rest of the world. source
