Is it necessary to have your dog tested for heartworms every year if they are on a heartworm med like Sentinel?

It takes six months for heartworm to reach maturity on the heartworm meds, that will kill....

When you say straight ivermectin, what do you mean? Is that heartworm meds? I don't that are kept on the preventives year round.

If you don't want your dog to have heart worms yes, southern Canada has the most skeeters around, Switzerland in the spring they are like locust swarms, sky is black with them, houses covered with them .

Heartworm is transferred via bites from infected a preventative, my vet in LA also didn't mention heartworm preventative.
Breathe.

I would skimp on alot of things, but not heartworm prevention.

Thats interesting ...if there are mosquitos in any country the risk of heartworm can increase dogs for heartworm, lungworm etc.
