200tdi block heater vs hose heater

I have the block heater for my 200tdi that I haven't installed yet,
My question is after getting
the new RN catalog is:
Which is the better way to go?
the hose heater seems like a much easier install.
I'm not familier with the hose heater from RN but I the VW's often run a coolant heater

Anbody use a Mr. heater garage shop infra red heater for their shop?
I got a MR Heater for Christmas. It is not the infra red heater. It has two burners and a small fan
