Heater hose / heater core cut-off valve UPDATE W/PIC
Is there a cut-off valve supposed to be inline on one of the heater hoses to "disable" the heater core when it's not being used...so hot water isn't heating-up the core at all times? Working on a '...

Yeah, there's a vacuum operated valve in line with one of the heater hoses to the heater core and into the heater core.

I try to keep it at 74 degrees but my heaters.

Was from the oil-o-matic heater originally, I had welded the 6 inch flue outlet directly in the top of the heater to this fitting, then through the side of the air tube, then runs back and down the air tube in this heater.

Is there a reason to replace a working water heater with a new tankless water heater? Other than the tankless water heaters being more efficient, are there more reasons why tankless is better? The older water heater still works fine.
