My favourite historical/archaeological sites to visit have to be Bamburgh castle and Rievaulx and Jervaulx Abbeys. A lot of it's to do with the amazing settings, I think! Bamburgh is right by the North Sea. So... what's your favourite site?

As for sites I've actually been+ hours, was spent in a hotel preparing....

I agree, I think the Playa del Carmen area and Xcaret), lots of interesting daytrips... .
To travel? Are you looking for a beach holiday with day trip to historical sites or beach place to combine archaelogical sites with some nice beach.

Have you checked http://archive.org ? Both those sites appear to have about 10 years of history.
