How do we know that Kovu has a permanent scar on his face? If I remember correctly, the time between Zira hitting him and the end of the movie is less than 24 hours. That wouldn't have been enought time for the wound to heal anyway. Also, I'm no medical...

Also Kovu's eye (or any eye for that matter) does not have much muscle mass .
I think it is indeed a Scar, if Kovu hadn't pulled back from Zira when she clawed him, Kovu may have lost his eye .
