Permanent Residence (break up with Swede) If one has a permanent residence permit and breaks up does that void the residence permit? Is it only permanent if you stay with them?

Of the law, then the visa holder doesn't even need to have a PUT in order to stay past the end a permanent residence permit luckily and the abuse is so far just mental.

It does look like you need to complete 7 years from July 10. It comes dwon to dates and the fact that you were on a tourist visa. A toursit visa does not count as permenant residency and normally, a tourist visa is only 3 months. Feb - May?? not July....

Your visa will not get cancelled; you just won't be eligible to apply for an extension as you're no longer dependent on your wife. As your visa does not expire until 2013, and you would have completed your 7 years in 2011, you will be okay. Apply for ...

I am eligible for PR now. Should I apply for this before the changes to Registry/Gaijin-cards happen in July, or wait until after? I'm a little clueless about what the change is going to mean for PR candidacy, if anything.
