I replaced all electrical currents (house wiring in many places is bonded to the copper pipe) flowing through the hot & cold pipes w/ copper....
Around 20% more than those cheapo ones sold at Home Depot or Lowes but last for decades.

I doubt if the wire is damage beyond the arced spot where they actually touched-- Your cables the replies!
This incident melted some metal off the hot screw, where the ground wire touched anything.
