Fredo, FDA Approved HPV Test For Men?
One of the reason that there is no test for men is because the CDC and others will say, falsely in my opinion, that other than warts, there are no other risks to men. Then they will say, penis cancer is possible too, but rarely. Well, despite the rarity, shouldn't that be enough reason to create a test. There is a test to help prevent cervical cancer, and rightfully so, but there should also be a test to screen for penis cancer.
I think also there will come a day when HPV is found to cause many ailments which are currently not attributed to HPV. There's over 100 strains and they only cause warts and cancer?

When does HPV vaccine get effective?
I got the first shot for HPV vaccine and will get the second in 2 months and the third in 6 months. My boyfriend and I are waiting until the vaccine is effective enough. I hear after 2nd shot, it'll eb pretty much protective, but should I really have to wait until the 2nd shot? What's the chance to get infected 4-5 days after the 1st shot?

HPV vaccine?
My daughter is 13 and got her 2nd dose last week at her annual physical. I chose to have her vaccinated because I do believe in the vaccine and the value of it. I believe a shot and the potential minor side effects outweigh the risk of cervical cancer.

Oral HPV transmission?
I think it's always important to let people, not just my patients, but my friends and family, know what risks are out there and ways to reduce those risks. I woud say exactly what you said, that one study was done showing a link between the presence of HP Virus in abnormal cells and cancerous cells in the oropharynx, but that very little research has been done on HPV throughout the body and barrier protection methods, so it's unknown how useful they would be when used as protection during types of sex. However, when it comes to sex, it is possible to be relatively safe and have fun at the same time, and each person has to consider the risks and benefits carefully before making decisions regarding sex. This doesn't include just whether or not to carry flavored condoms in case of a possible interaction later, but to talk to potential partners about all STIs and what steps each couple wants to take together to prevent potential transmission and unwanted pregnancy. Granted, it is often difficult to bring up the subject with someone one really cares for, much less in a relationship that moves very fast physically, but this is a choice each person can only make for her or himself.
