Less water because it has a humidifier sensor at the machine level which takes the room humidity setting on the humidifier will most likely produce minimal water usage if any at all.

Otherwise there are stand alone units that use steam or use compressed air to create a "fog" out of water .
That is if you have a forced air system.
They will have the expertise to get it done right the first time .

What setting do you use on your humidifier? You are in SoCal...is your area particularly arid area...then it may well be the humidifier itself malfunctioning.
