I'm considering a career in DH but I'm a bit hesitant about it being such female dominated field. Is there a stigma against male hygienists? Are the prospects for hiring them any different than for females? I'd appreciate any feedback on this.

Does anybody know how much money a private practice can make off a hygienist? How profitable are cleanings? Hygienist salaries are anywhere from 40-60 and I just don't see cleanings being that profitable. Maybe they are though.

I don't get it. i graduated with a class of about 30 last year and almost everyone is working by now. and there are multiple DH programs in western new york.
