Hi,
I got my visa approved and got the passport stamped. But the original i797 form was not returned by the officer.
Just checking if I have to call them up and remind.

Woo hoo!!! A little bit ago I just got off the phone with "the powers that be." I called to see (read nag) if we had been assigned an officer. Not only had we been assigned, we have been approved! YAAAAY! They mailed the approval this a.m. I am so relieved...

I am on H4 visa and will be going to India to get H4 renewal stamped in December 2011.My husband (H1B holder)is in UAE for work purposes and he will get his H1B renewal stamped from there.
So, I will be applying separately (alone) for my H4 renewal...

Receipt notice just....
To get the approval notice, it will take a couple of months (or more) depending on the service center where your h1b transfer is filed .
You can officially start working for the new employer after you receive the confirmation receipt .

The worst case is the consulate might take a little additional time to review your petition and issue you the ... .
However, in your case since you did not receive the original approval notice, just try with I-797C .
You need I-797A/B for the visa stamping.

Hello, My family is on H4 and it is about to expire in May 2012 along my H1...they have to go to India and so they plan to attend the stamping there...but usually the H4 approval doc I do not get until 3 or 4 months after expiry and it is way too long...

Simply attend the interview in India with my approved I797 while her H4 is still in process(which takes in India with my approved I797 while her H4 is still in process(which takes long time to get the paper extension and she can attend ....

Кстати, писать о смене статуса надо в NVC, а не USCIS .
Можно сначала получить дубликат, а потом уже писать им о смене статуса - чтобы не путать их лишний раз .
