I have a couple old iBook G3 800mhz 256mb ram cd drive. I am looking for suggestions of what would be the best OS to install. Best measured as having a modern web browser and fast (least slow). Chrome OS would be great but I don't think that's an option...

I run Tiger on my 500mhz iBook G3 with 384mb RAMI run Tiger....
iBook G3 with 384mb RAM and it runs fine and I actually ran Tiger on a 300mhz PowerMac G3 B&W it's the oldest Mac OS that is a viable choice (support wise).

The hardware is extremly dated and chances are it has Apple's previous version of MacOS (OS 9), and thusly wouldn't be compatible with any modern applications .
That wouldn't be good for anyone.

Well, I swore I'd never buy another one of these. Saw a listing on eBay, it was cheap enough so I took the plunge. The listing was very vague, just said Dual USB iBook G3 & 384 MB RAM. Turns out I got a pretty good deal.

I must admit, I never thought to use duct tape to close up an iBook.

SATA will not work in your ibook g3 My friend did HD replacement and it's pretty striking....
