I think the only iMac GPU available now, that should.
In my opinion it's definitelly not worth that $400.
In very high resolutions as it has more VRAM, but don't expect to get much more fps than on 4850.

If the 27" monitor you are thinking of is the latest apple 27" thunderbolt display then you can only connect that to a thunderbolt machine .
