Essentially I'd like to know just host compatible are the iPhone and the iPod Touch. I would like to know if I could buy an iPod Touch (and thus save some cash) and develop iPhone apps on it or if I really should spend the extra money and put up with ...

The iphone has a few more hardware features over the ipod) No camera.
Wise except for the hardware specific apps.

I created the App IDs for my first two applications like this:

I started updating a bunch of my iPod touch apps I realised there was too much to download over the wifi & I paused the updates & downloaded them with iTunes & synced my iPod.

Get the app in iTunes on your computer, right click on it and click "Show in Windows to 4.2" in version 1.3.1.
Usually if it says that it is because the app was compiled on ARMV7 and will not run on your iPod it and try it out.

So i just jailbroken my ipod touch (ios 5.0.1) about 2 days ago, but now i can't access all of my apps or games, i only can access cydia, cydia apps, and defaulted apps such as safari, already try to restarting it but no hope

It's a shot in the dark, but maybe you should change the app's permissions? Try 777 and see if....
He can use Cydia/stock apps just fine, it's App Store apps that won't open.

I have figured out how to get the iphone apps and squiggle icon move for a 1.1.3 jailbroken ipod touch. These are the steps.
1) Im assuming you have a jailbroken ipod touch, so download BSD Subsystem and then OpenSSH.
2) Login to your ipod with Winscp...
