Santa brought me an iPod Touch (OS v3.1.2, Model MC series). I was wondering if it is possible to jailbreak it through a Linux machine (Ubuntu Karmic).

You can setup a VM under Linux and try that option but better off doing.

You could try Floola.
Most music players in Linux support most ipod products (with the exception of iPod touch cosSongbird is quite good for the music management on an iPod.
But it is functional.

You can't run applications on an iPod, unless it is an iPhone or iPod Touch.
There is some apps, but it only runs on a Macintosh as well .
You need to use a Macintosh and Xcode to develop software for the iPhone/iPod touch.
Is there any ported version of iTunes for Linux? Really would like it; i need to restore my iPod. Emulation is slow because i have here a 1 GB of RAM.

You can't restore the iPod without iTunes, which unfortunately has no direct port for Linux it, would be to install a Virtual Machine of Windows.
I received an audiobook on CDs for Christmas--"Hollywood Moon" by Joseph Wambaugh--and I'd like to convert it for use on my iPod. How do I do that? Thanks.
